Yesterday, Mr Theologian went to the hospital and his renal artery got cleaned out. It was 70 percent blocked, and he is resting at the main wing of the hospital. He will have to follow a low-fat and low-sodium diet– plus (to my delight and to Wayne’s chagrin)…he must quit smoking NOW. He has been off his ciggies for over 24 hours and he’s been trying to deal with the shakiness. He begged me to procure a packet to smoke in the restroom. I told him “No!” It’s now or never, and I got him on the nicotine patch. If he whines about that, I’d place another patch in his mouth. There.
Now, an update: They found an pseudoaneurysm in his groin area (that’s where they made the incision for the arteriogram), so they will have to correct that and nip that in the bud before worse things happen. For more info about that, check out the Wikipedia entry at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoaneurysm
I’ll be with him tomorrow morning like I’ve been the past few days. I got my charts and books with me for enlightenment and cramming.
Prayers, good wishes, and general understanding and compassion are welcomed.
