VARK Linkage Page and New Categories

One of the nice things about the WordPress template I’m using is that it places links in a separate section so the main content of the blog is more visible. While I am at it, I’m cleaning up my link list and sorting them. Since the VARK list is lengthy, I’m placing it in its own page for reference.

New categories for organizing include “Open Source” (for FOSS-related matters), and “pondering” (quotes of interest). “Housekeeping” will be renamed “Blog Maintenance”, as some might confuse “Housekeeping” as an Heloise section.

I owe Andy Peatling a beer.

This what Peatling did to merit his pint. He created this theme called Durable for WordPress, and it fits with what I wanted. The links are in a separate page so it won’t make an unbalanced trail at the right side of my page. I’ll make some more cosmetic changes to this…like a background graphic and stuff I need to carry over from the earlier Annexe incarnation.

Future Plans and a Video of the Moment

I’m planning a revamped site, with sections for my business and the Annexe. This means that I have to make a storyboard of where to put things, whip up some nifty graphics, and make a professional effort with CarolRutz.com and Mad Theologian Services.

In the meantine, enjoy Matt and Kim as they get food thrown at them.

Computer Repair Ad Now Up

I’ve just posted up my first business ad for my repair business, and I will need to add a special section for my business. If any of you are in the Fort Wayne area as well as New Haven, Auburn, Decatur, and Aboite areas, let me be your computer fix-it geek!

Robinhood Fund Bid is Now Up! Vote 5 (for OSCON)!

While I’m getting some gigs to fix computers, I also posted up my wish on the Robinhood Fund. The best description I can make about the Fund is that it is the Web 2.0 version of “Queen For A Day”.

Basically, one ask for funds for various things, from a pair of industrial-grade shoes for work to a trip for a terminally-ill child. Your wish can be “naughty” or “nice”– selfish or alturistic, hedonistic or educational. And now, this is my wish: that airfare to OSCON won’t be a burden in my budget.

Adding some Ads: A Disclaimer

You may have notice that I’ve added Google’s Adsense to my blog. I figured that now I’m planning to focus on my business and work, I want to have the blog earn enough so I can pay for my website hosting (which is cheap to begin with).

Adsense will feature ads based on keywords that I use, like “Lutheran”, “shirts”, “Linux” and the like. So whatever ad you see is at random. There will be non-Lutheran* stuff featured (like the guys from LMNOtees), so to my fellow Confessionals: DO NOT PANIC! And to the Threadlessbians and the Farkers: DO NOT PANIC, either! Thanks in advance.

*ADdenda (ha! a pun!): By “non-Lutheran”, I meant stuff that espouses the Theology of Glory and/or “secular” advertisements. It can range from a popular Rapture-themed fictional book to shirts with questionable taste.

New Theme, and Upcoming Construction

As you see here, I’ve changed themes and thus, this site in in flux.

When I was in the Los Angeles area, radio stations come and go. I remembered Pirate Radio 100.3 FM and it was my favorite station until around 1990 when they changed logos and things went downhill. Then I discovered KROQ. When it changed formats, there was filler sounds as the new radio station came in.

Same with KSCA 101.9, as it transformed itself from “Adult Album Alternative” to a Spanish-language station. There was a looped track of laughter for the next 24 hours, between the transition.

Here at the Annexe, I’m taking a page out of that playbook and I’m enclosing my own filler music from Secret Chiefs 3’s First Grand Constitution and Bylaws. If you look at their album notes, that following track is called Borderland. But there are three Borderlands listed. This is an allegory, folks. It is about transitioning.

In their first album, the members of Mr Bungle and Faith No More experimented with Middle Eastern themes and random noise, with a shot of Sufi mysticism. This track was the second to the last track (White As They Come), and the final Borderland in the album.

So…in the next few weeks, the Annexe will be like this Borderland: changing into something better.

A+ Certification and Some Upcoming Plans

Well, guys…I passed the OS Technologies portion of the A+ exam. Which means that I’m now certified to do computer repair work. I’m planning to get moving with my business and get my website revamped, so I can look like I’m professional enough.

Stay tuned.
