Tasty Eye Candy from Fark

This week’s Farktography is a very good one: the theme is about food on a dish or plate. The results are stunning.

Many of the entries featured homemade dishes, others were made in a restaurant.

I spent 8 hours Tuesday at the internship and on lunch break, picked up Shrimp Alfredo for the prof. She loved the shrimp, but the pasta was lackluster. If only Mopsy had a restaurant in Fort Wayne so I can serve Ms Heise this instead:

And this is what I feel like eating right now, this steak and potato dish by Alyna_jf …it will clog up your arteries, it will add meat to your ribs, but your taste buds will thank you for it:

Cavalli and the “Real Vulgarity”

Just want to share this Telegraph article with the Confessional fashion plates, those who do not equate modesty with tackiness and denim jumpers.

What makes this interesting was Mr Cavalli’s quote on women and their effort to look “sexy”:

“There is a real vulgarity in the way women dress at the moment,” purrs Roberto Cavalli, stubbing out his cigarette in a turtle-shaped gold ashtray and reaching into his green, lizard-skin manbag for a cigar. “They show off too much and try too hard. They don’t understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar. I know where that line is.”

I’ve been to the Cavalli shop at Las Vegas, and I really love that place…especially when the background music was “Glitz Rock” by Felix Da Housecat. I ended up dancing with the store help. That is how awesome the store is.

And here is more info from his Milan show for this Spring.

Psychedelia for Geniuses

I remember spending summer evenings watching the shows on Cable Access. My favorite was the Threee Geniuses — psychedelic mish mash of color and sounds. You just never know what they will cook up. Here is one of their video iterations of Arial Pink’s Cable Access Follies. (The others are posted on their YouTube channel.)

I want to be participate in one of their shows if I ever go to California and if I can explain all of this properly to Mr Theologian. And I doubt that I can pull off the Fort Wayne version. I can go to the cable access studio at the Allen County Public Library downtown. But I need are old lo-fi records, weird props and some friends who are willing to join me in the production.

Moments in Love by the Art of Noise

Until now, I did not have the title or the name of the group who did that chill-out piece. It was simply a sensual soundscape that evoked images of romance, lust, and the mystery that only lovers are permitted to experience.

I’ve first heard that on a Mexican telenovela (soap opera), as part of the commercial break bumper. Later, I’ve heard it in a safe sex commercial, and at Knott’s Berry Farm’s Whirlpool ride. The last time I’ve heard it was New Year’s Day 2005. The Prediger and I were on an airport shuttle from Orange County to LAX. The radio in the van was tuned in to 94.7 FM The WAVE…and that song appeared whilst riding into LA at 4am. I looked outside at the lights of the city, and the quietness of the ride to the airport. It capped off our trip together.

And now, I have found out its identity and I was surprised that it was from the guys who brought us Peter Gunn and Close (To The Edit). Here is its live version, for your listening pleasure.

Ohio Ron Paul Supporters’ Homage to White Stripes Video

Some blokes in Columbus made a Ron Paul version of Hardest Button to Button with signs and supporters.

And here is the original White Stripes version for comparison and enlightenment.

And as a special bonus, here is Art Clokey’s Gumbasia. Dim the sound of this clip and play the White Stripes song for good times.

Anger can be power/Do you know that you can use it?

Bevets' pic of Triphammer Falls at Cornell University

This week’s Farktography features a great selection of wallpaper of natural settings. Bevets (of “Summon Bevets” fame) has contributed a great scene from Cornell University.

From his website, I stumbled a provocative and informative article link from Greta Christina regarding atheism and anger. (NSFW) She outlined the reasons why she, as an Atheist, is very angry.

Personally, I would not blame her for being angry.

It is also a reminder that anger is a great weapon when used to correct injustices– provided that it is rightfully directed. Otherwise, you’re hurting yourself. Do not take away the right to be angry by platitudes or sheer condescension.

Eye Candy from the Discount Store

From Fark.com, neat pics from the weekly Farktography contest, with the theme “Everything’s a Dollar/Pound/Euro/Etc” .

mass produced pigs for a dollar

Yesterday, I was getting some medicine for the Prediger and the pharmacy told me that it would be a 45-minute wait. At the shopping center next to Walgreens was the Dollar General and this funky dollar store and across the street was Big Lots and the Family Dollar. I had time to kill, so I visited these stores. My favorite hands-down scenery was from that funky shop. Want a Sailor Moon party table cloth? It’s there for a dollar. Maybe you want a “Sorry, I’m Taken” Evangelical Christian bandanna or something similar that matches your depth and breadth of theological knowledge. That and much more can be found in that store for a buck (or two).

Do not have time to spelunk? Let the Farkers show you their pics. (Their pics. Let me show you them.)
