Friend of the Predigtamt
This section carries scholarly papers and past assignments from my formal studies in Lutheran theology. These are my views, and they do not necessarily represent the official positions of any religious institution, church body, or any current place of employment.
What Does This Mean?
It was during my studies in historical theology when I adopted this title for myself. The German word Predigtamt is a compound word meaning "Office of the Holy Ministry". That word appeared in Article V of the Augsburg Confession describing the group of men who will preach the Gospel, administer the Sacraments, and oversee the Church. That Holy Office was instituted by Christ, and the Apostles were the first of many who are in this Order.
To be a Friend of the Predigtamt is to be a friend of the clergyman and recognizing the challenges he must carry as pastor. I was aware that my classmates will undertake a responsibility, and what made this more apparent was when I met the love of my life-- who at the time of courtship has been in the ministry for over 35 years.
This section is dedicated to my husband, who been my dearest friend and blessing.
