Well, guys...here I am trying a new thing for future use, and it is all because the trial period of Dreamweaver CS3 has expired.
I tried really hard to look for an Open Source alternative to Dreamweaver CS3. But every time I install something that I thought it was decent enough, it failed me in some huge way. One program crashed on me due to KDE issues, another did not present my new index properly. In frustration, I looked around and saw Joomla! and what it offered for me. So I installed it here in hopes that it can be like Dreamweaver, designing little webpages and acting like Dreamweaver would.
IT'S NOT DREAMWEAVER! In fact, Joomla! is a Content Management System, NOT an application for Web Development. Which means that while I will be editing my Dreamweaver pages at school, I'm planning to keep Joomla! and tinker around with it. Since I am planning to work within the Open Source Movement, I should do something worth enjoying. Even though I did not find what I wanted, I found something that is truly needed for future use and personal development. In the next several months, I'll be working with Joomla! CMS and try whatever I can do to make this section of CarolRutz.com more presentable and maybe...if this works better than expected...I can make CarolRutz.com entirely Joomla-driven. Wish me luck. In the meanwhile, I may dust off Namo's WebCreator 2006 and see whether that would meet my expectations for my Dreamweaver assignments. Love and Blessings, Carol Rutz |
